Michigan State kicked off their 2009 basketball season with their Annual Midnight Madness. Austin Smith had the story.

Austin is one of the newest additions to Focal Point for this upcoming fall. He is 21 years old and a senior at MSU. Austin attended Central Michigan University for his freshman year before transferring to MSU where he is working on his Journalism degree with an external specialty in sports.

Outside of school Austin is a big sports fan. His dream career would be producing live sporting events for a major sports network.

He has vast work experience having had internships at New England Sports Network (NESN) in Boston, Fox Sports Detroit (FSN), and WLAJ in East Lansing. He also had a writing internship with Scout.com, a national recruiting website.

Austin is looking forward to working hard on Focal Point this next semester and bringing his best to the show.
