Focal Point’s Carole Polan takes us to Michigan Energy Options in East Lansing to learn more about CFL lightbulbs and other ways to save money and be more environmentally friendly in your own home.

Michigan State University celebrated the opening of their new Surplus Store and Recycling Center on campus.  These new buildings will help both the university and its surrounding communities increase their green efforts.  The buildings themselves also have unique green elements.  This story takes us on a tour of the new facility and explores how it will improve recycling efforts.

Carole Polan returns this year for her second season as a reporter for Focal Point News.

While her past internship at Citadel Broadcasting and the occasional Co-Hosting of MSU’s entertainment web cast, The Spartan View, gave her valuable insight into the broadcasting world, she hopes that her involvement in Focal Point will help her further explore this industry.

Polan is finishing a specialization in public relations and currently has an internship doing messaging, communications, and public relations for Fulcrum Future Forward, a non-profit community improvement organization.

She also is the Producer of Dan Mulhern’s  radio program, Everyday Leadership, which can be heard locally in Lansing on 1240 WJIM-AM and across the state on The Michigan Talk Radio Network.

When she’s not busy with school and work, Polan enjoys cheering on green and white, spending time with her friends and family, water skiing and wake boarding at her cottage on Higgins Lake, and trying to learn how to golf.
