Ashley Simms Bio
Sep 7th, 2009 by Ashley Simms

black and gold dressYou better catch her while you can! This graduating senior is leaving the tundra, as she calls it, and moving back down south after May 2010. Originally a native of Memphis, she has many wonderful experiences to remember from her four year relationship with Michigan State University.

Ashley has always been interested in broadcast journalism, but changed paths quickly when she was introduced to the organization Public Relations Student Society of America. From there, she joined University Activities Board, and THOUGHT broadcast journalism was a thing of the past. After landing an internship at HOM-TV, Ashley dedicated a year of her life to “back-pack journalism”.

Still trying to avoid television, she took on another internship with the Shelby County Schools Education Foundation working as the videographer. With another opportunity to pursue broadcast journalism, Ashley is anxious to see what new knowledge she will gain from Focal Point, yet still trying to move toward public relations. She’s currently Vice President of Senior Class Council and plans to move to Atlanta to join the post-grad P.R. program at CNN. Stay tuned… :)
